dialouge

Narrator (Peyton mutual friend):  Hallis and Nolan have been dating for a few months now and things seem to be going great especially due to their specific circumstance. You see Nolan is what we label and player and Hallis is more conservative and she is best friends with Nolan’s half-brother Logan. Nolan and Logan are not very friendly toward each other they are more of what I would label friendenimies and Logan and Hallis are arguing because Hallis just got a tattoo of Nolan’s jersey number symbolizing how she feels for Nolan.

--Hallis bend over to grab her phone that dropped—

Logan: Hallis what’s that?

Hallis: what’s what ?

Logan: that on your back.

Hallis: nothing, nothing is on my back.

Logan: Hallis I saw it. Did you get a tattoo

Hallis: (scared of Logan’s reaction) … maybe

Logan: turn around let me see it.

Hallis: ok, but Logan before you have to promise you won’t be too mad…

Logan: Oh my God Hallis what the hell.

Hallis: Logan don’t.

Logan: don’t what Hals,  I can’t believe he did this to you; it is just like him to get you branded with his jersey number. What a typical Nolan move. Couldn’t wait to rub something else in my face on how he is now moving on my best friend.

Hallis: no it’s not even like that Logan, Nolan doesn’t even know.

Logan: Hallis a tattoo, that permanent it’s not something that just rubs off.

Logan: This is the most stupidest thing you have ever done. It is like he is changing you to be one of all the other girls he has dated. Hallis this isn’t you

Hallis: I know but what I am feeling isn’t washable either.

Logan: what are you saying

Hallis: I’m saying that I love him.

Logan: so what if you break up what then

Hallis: then I look at this tattoo and know this is how I want to feel every day forever. I know that 20 years from now I will be able to look at this tattoo and know that this is what love feels like and that’s what matters to me.

Logan: … I just don’t want you to get hurt

Hallis : I know and I thank you but Nolan has changed, he is better and I don’t think he is the mean guy that you think he is  just give him another chance for me please

Logan : (pause)

Hallis: Logan…

Logan: ok but this is the only chance he gets.

test prep

the word that I was focusing on was metonomy this youtube video I found really explains both metonomy and synecdoche. the voice quailty isnt the greates but if you listen closely I found it to be very helpful relating to things in my life today such as music and movies.

true or false when the book uses the example "I knew him in his cradle" this is a metonomy  for saying " Iknew him when he was young."

howl imitation

I saw the best people of my generation living beyond their means

Who drove the brand new cars bought by their parents

I saw the best people of my generation falling into a hole where they are drowning

In the end they earn as much as they could possibly and turn around and spend it foolishly

Driving in the fast lane where they make unnecessary Starbucks stops

Waiting to drop and hours’ worth of pay on a luxury treat

Pondering what could be the next major purchase on their triple gold platinum

I saw the best people of my generation conspiring what would be the next move to get ahead

Contemplating weather they can even afford their life style and if how they’re living is worth it

I saw the best people of my generation taking the newest antidepressant

Who research to find what pill can help them become their ideal body

Because if a celebrity can endorse the product it is the real deal

I saw the best people of my generation easing their way into their death beads

Who and what are they are trying to impress is beyond ones pondering question.

I saw the best people of my generation killing themselves on puff at a time

Who can play the game and try to double their losses

But in the end all they have left to is to run

Everything they have ever lived for is gone, in the end material was sold back and they were left begging to survive.

I saw the best people living beyond their means, and those people now have nothing to show

sestina

There is nothing better than a team

Working hard at cannon beach

Running up huge mountains

Playing beach and street soccer

Working out on the sandy beach during the nights

Making a life time full of memories

I still have some of the best memories

I could not have asked for a better team

The hard days lead to even harder nights

Being on a huge beach

Where we would play twenty four seven soccer

Surrounded by Rock Mountains

The biggest challenge was running the mountains

But the mountain runs are my best memories

My coach fueled my love for soccer

Even more because he showed us how to be a team

The water workouts at the beach

Made me wish the day would turn into the nights

I loved being able to see all the nights

Surrounded by the most amazing mountains

Camping on the beach

We would tell old memories

Nothing could break us we were a team

Those girls became my family through soccer

I would have never thought that I would have to miss soccer

Then there were the nights

Where we practiced with the team

And everything came crashing down like mountains

All of my hard work was now turned into memories

The beach was just the beach

Nothing could take away the beach

But torn ligament took away soccer

All I had left were memories

And crying nights

Full of angry mountains

That just missed my team

I loved the beach and hated the nights

I would cry for soccer but dread the mountains

Although they were full of memories I climbed them with my team
