rain

these drops are big gum drops.
they split and splat
for hours or  just minutes
they can damper a mood
or bring out beauitful colors
they are  free falling.
they dont like to be held back.
these rain drops are essential,
they fall where they were meant to fall
these drops are baby drops
these rain drops are big drops
i have felt the drops on my arms and on my brow
they pitter and patter
they have a purpose
and that purpose is to hydrate
to revive and revamp
rain drops are like a Sunday morning for me
in the fall in western Washington
I look out and I feel comfort
I am not mad at the rain because after rain
Comes a rainbow and a new day.

litney imitation

You are the spoon and the sugar,
the  queen and the  power.
You are the white lab coat on the specialist
and the medicine that heals.
You are the kindness in one’s heart,
and the twinkle in every eye.

However, you are not hammer and the nail,

The rain on a Sunday morning,
or the frowns on faces.
And you are certainly not a rose with thorns.
There is just no way that you are a rose with thorns.

It is possible that you are horse in the stable,
maybe even the sun breaking through the clouds,
but you are not even close
to being a weed in the beautiful garden.

And a quick look in the mirror will show
that you are neither the dust on the shelf
nor a lost dog in a dark alley.

It might interest you to know,
speaking of the plentiful imagery of the world,
that I am the wind roaring through the trees.

I also happen to be the stars in the sky,
the waves in the ocean
and the money in your wallet.

I am also the rain on your windshield

and the drip coffee that fills your mug.
But don't worry, I'm not the spoon and the sugar.
You are still the spoon and the sugar.
You will always be the spoon and the sugar,
not to mention the queen and--somehow--the power.
I focused this poem on my mom because she is my inspiration and although we have our ups and downs she is always there for me even if sometimes its by being a stern parent and not a friend.
